The Solar Commission supports the following local organizations

Indiana organizations that support solar, renewable energy, and the environment.

  • The Nature Conservancy in Indiana

The Nature Conservancy is a global environmental nonprofit working to create a world where people and nature can thrive.

Founded in the U.S. through grassroots action in 1951, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has grown to become one of the most effective and wide-reaching environmental organizations in the world. Thanks to more than a million members and the dedicated efforts of our diverse staff and over 400 scientists, we impact conservation in 81 countries and territories: 40 by direct conservation impact and 41 through partners.

  • Hoosier Environmental Council

Simply stated, our goal is to make Indiana a better place to live, breathe, work, and play. Our two greatest tools are education and advocacy. And if passion is a tool, then add that to the list.

Putting science to work in the most beneficial ways imaginable, we aim to work in harmony with nature and people, creating lasting partnerships that will benefit both. By bringing issues to the forefront and encouraging an open discussion about Indiana’s environmental well being, we can help shape laws, create jobs, protect the environment, and improve our quality of life.

  • Solar United Neighbors

    Our mission
We’re a community of people building a new energy system with rooftop solar at the cornerstone. We help people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights.

    Our vision
We envision a clean, equitable energy system that directs control and benefits back to local communities, with solar on every roof and money in every pocket.

  • Indiana Distributed Energy Alliance (Indiana DG)

Working to promote renewable energy and distributed generation.

  • Carmel Green Initiative

    About Carmel Green Initiative
Carmel Green Initiative is a coalition of citizens and community groups who promote and support the City of Carmel’s commitment to reducing our impact on the environment and meeting the climate challenge. Our goals include:

    reducing energy waste,

promoting clean, renewable, and smart energy solutions, and

    educating the public.

Our collective action as good stewards will improve the quality of life in Carmel, Indiana and the natural environment of our world.

  • Citizens Action Coalition

CAC is Indiana's oldest and largest consumer and environmental advocacy organization. Since our inception in 1974, we've helped to save Hoosiers more than $10 billion in excess utility charges.

CAC advocates on behalf of Hoosiers on issues regarding energy policy, utility reform, health care, pollution prevention, and family farms.

CAC’s activities include research, public education, organizing citizens, creating public awareness, lobbying legislators, intervening in utility cases before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, and litigating when necessary.
